About Us

Hello, my name is Manuel Gallo-Contera. (Best known as Manny) I was born in Oriental Republic of Uruguay, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uruguay) a bordering country with Argentina and Brazil. I am from the capital called Montevideo. I came to the US in 2002 and did not intend to stay long. However, it was not like that. In a short time I was the father of a girl who is 15 years old today and I decided to settle, going through all the steps that led me to citizenship.

I progressed in my profession, gained professional experience, and have lived in Delaware for 19 years. For 4 years I have lived in Georgetown, a small community in Sussex County where there are many orchards and local producers who offer the best of their vegetables and fruits every season.

During my first years in Delaware I worked as a line cook, and later occupying the various positions that make up this profession; sub chef, chef, executive chef. Today I set myself the challenge of starting my own business from an idea that has been developing throughout my life. I intend to start a small family business that can expand over time, prioritizing the preparation of healthy food with local products. For this we have the support of the First State Community Action Agency and the Stand By Me organization. A respectful relationship with the local community is our priority as well as active participation in projects such as the Juneteenth Community Garden of the Richard Allen Coalition and the neighborhood organization DE CommUNITY.

We believe that only from the respect to the different and the cordial relationship builds unity. With Tango we want to share a bit of the cuisine of my country -Uruguay- and what each group based in Georgetown has to offer. For this I count on the support of my mother, my daughter and friends who, near or from a distance, accompany me in this adventure. For them it is worth pursuing the dream of being better every day.

Hola, mi nombre es Manuel Gallo-Contera, nací en la República Oriental del Uruguay, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uruguay país limítrofe, con Argentina y Brasil, soy de la capital que se llama Montevideo. LLegué a EEUU en el año 2002. No pensaba quedarme mucho tiempo. Sin embargo no fue así, pues al poco tiempo fui padre de una niña que hoy tiene 15 años y decidí radicarme, transitando para ello todos los pasos que me condujeron a la ciudadanía.

Fui avanzando en mi profesión, adquirí experiencia profesional y vivo desde hace 19 años en Delaware. Desde hace 4 años resido en Georgetown, pequeña comunidad del condado de Sussex donde abundan las huertas y los productores locales que ofrecen cada temporada lo mejor de sus vegetales y frutas.

Durante mis primeros años en Delaware me desempeñé como cocinero de línea, y posteriormente ocupando las diversas posiciones que hacen a esta profesión;  sub chef, chef, chef ejecutivo. Hoy me planteo el desafío de emprender mi propio negocio a partir de una idea que se fue gestando a lo largo de mi vida. Me propongo iniciar un pequeño negocio familiar que con el paso del tiempo pueda expandirse, priorizando la elaboración de comida saludable con productos locales. Contamos para ello con el acompañamiento de la First State Community Action Agency y la organización Stand By Me. El relacionamiento respetuoso con la comunidad local es nuestra prioridad así como la participación activa en proyectos como la Huerta Comunitaria Juneteenth de la Coalición Richard Allen y la organización de vecinos DE CommUNITY.

Creemos que solo desde el respeto a lo diferente y el relacionamiento cordial se construye unidad. Con Tango queremos compartir un poco de la cocina de mi país -Uruguay- y lo que cada colectivo radicado en Georgetown tiene para ofrecer. Cuento para ello con el apoyo de mi madre, mi hija y amigos que cerca o a la distancia me acompañan en esta aventura. Por ellos vale la pena perseguir el sueño de ser mejor cada día.
